Assembly Instruction:
DEMAG AC 500-1 - Luffing fly jib
Item no. 98000/0
The small parts shown on the right side are
necessary for successful assembly. Please read
these instructions carefully prior to assembly.
1.
Press the two side pins of the rope drum inwards against
spring pressure and fit the drum into the space on the couter-
weight tray provided there for this purpose.
1.1
The rope is fixed with an adhesive strip. Remove the adhesive
strip and reeve the rope from underneath the lower sheaves.

Arrange the luffing jib parts on a flat surface as shown on the illustration below.
2.1
Put the single sections together with 4 connecting pins under powerful pressure.
2.2
Connect the 8 long pendant bars as shown below in fig. 2.2.
2.3
One end of the assembled pendant bars should be hung on the short pendant bar (already assembled on the upper redu-
cer). The other end should be hung on the short pendant bar of the upper luffing mast.

Fix the jib on the boom of the base model while in a flat position. The adapter is to be connected with the A-frame of the base
model by using 4 pins.
3.1
Extend the main boom to the desired length.
3.2
Mount the luffing mast bridle on the free end of the short pendant bar of the lower luffing mast and fix it in a vertical position.
3.3
Reeve the hook block as follows. Start with the lower sheave on the outermost left (fig. 1.1) and lead the rope to the outer-
most left upper sheave of the luffing mast bridle and then back to the sheave adjacent to the outermost left of the lower shea-
ves etc..

Fix the end of the rope at the eyelet of the lower sheaves.

Tip: It is recommended to use a small piece of card board in order to avoid that the rope jumps over while ree-
ving!
4.
The rope of the luffing mast should be slightly under tension and the base model should be set up on its outriggers.
4.1
Put all counterweights onto the counterweight tray.
4.2
Fold out the sheave assembly of the boom base and reeve it as mentioned in the instruction of the base model.
4.3
Lead the hoist rope over the auxiliary sheave of the boom base sheave assembly and the 2 inner sheaves of the luffing jib to
the boom head. Please tie up the hook.
4.4
Slowly place the main boom in a almost vertical position. Attention: The jib should always be kept above the horizontal
position (the jib should be supported by a second person).
