Choosing the operating mode
With the sliding switch you can select the required operating mode:
"Card Reader" = Card reader is enabled
"USB" = USB socket is enabled
It is not possible to use the card reader and the USB socket at the same time.
Operating mode "Card Reader"
• Select the operating mode "Card Reader" using the sliding switch.
• Insert a memory card (SD/SDHC, MS, microSD, microSDHC, M2) into the corresponding
slot.
It is not possible to use several memory card slots at the same time. Use one of the
4 slots only.
• Plug the card reader into the corresponding micro USB socket of the smart phone.
• With read/write accesses the integrated LED next to the memory card slots fl ashes.
Operating the product as USB adapter
• Remove the memory card that might be inserted in the product.
• Select the operating mode "USB" using the sliding switch.
• Plug the USB device into the USB-A socket of the smart phone card reader.
• Plug the card reader into the corresponding micro USB socket of the smart phone.
It depends on the smart phone, the Android version used and the type of USB
device, whether the USB device is recognised and whether it can be used without
any problem.
Normally, there should not be any problem with the connection of a USB mouse,
USB keyboard or USB game controller. USB memory sticks should work correctly,
too.
However, due to the multitude of different devices it is impossible to guarantee
that all devices will work. For example, if you have problems with a specifi c USB
memory stick try using a different USB stick of another manufacturer.
Disconnecting the card reader from the smart phone and then reconnecting it may
help.
Problems can also be expected if the USB device has a power input that is too high.
Removing a Memory Card

Disconnect the card reader from the smart phone and pull the memory card carefully out of

the card reader.
Tips & Notes
a) General instructions
• With connected USB devices or memory cards the operating time of the smart phone is
reduced considerably.
• Handle the smart phone and the card reader with care, otherwise the micro USB socket of
the smart phone might be damaged; loss of warranty/guarantee!
• Please note that the memory cards or USB sticks should be formatted with FAT/FAT32 as
other fi le systems (e.g. NTFS) are normally not supported by Android. The max. storage for
memory cards or USB sticks is 32 GByte.
b) Card reader
• Ensure that the read-only access (slide switch on the memory card) is in the off position when
deleting from, writing to or formatting SD/MS memory cards.
c) USB connection
• In switch position "USB" there is a direct connection between the micro USB plug of the card
reader and the USB A-socket. The memory card slots of the card reader are without function
when using this operating mode.
• As already mentioned in the section "Operating the product as USB adapter", different USB
devices can be connected to and used with the smart phone.
• The USB port of the smart phone is not able to provide power to USB devices which require
a higher current.
