1. Safety Guidelines
1. Follow the installation instructions.
2. Use the appliance
• according to its intended use
• in good condition
• with due regard to safety and risk of danger.
3. Note that the appliance is exclusively for use in the appli-
cations detailed in these installation instructions. Any
other use will not be considered to comply with require-
ments and would invalidate the warranty.
4. Please take note that any assembly, commissioning,
servicing and adjustment work may only be carried out by
authorized persons.
5. Immediately rectify any malfunctions which may influence
safety.
2. Description of function
Sampling valve for chemical and microbiological parameters
in drinking, bathing and swimming pool water.
Suppliers of drinking water for public use have to commission
an annual investigations of water to prevent Legionella occur-
rence according German regulations TrinwV §§4, 14 (6) and
19 (7) and Appendix 4.
There are defined sampling locations for the determination of
drinking water system contamination by Legionella.
3. Application
Medium The sampling valve was developed for
usage in cold or hot drinking water systems,
swimming pools and bathing water systems.
The sampling valve should be used for investigation of Legi-
onella contamination at determined locations in potable water
systems.
4. Scope of delivery (see Fig. 1)
The sampling valve consists of:
1. Red bronze housing
2. Red bronze piston
3. Dezincification resistant brass nut
4. Dezincification resistant brass sleeve nut
5. Handwheel made of plastic
6. Protection cap made of plastic
7. Stainless steel outlet pipe
8. EPDM gaskets

6. Assembly
6.1. Installations Guidelines
• Positioning of the sampling location must be determined
by the person carrying out sampling. The defined positions
must be identified in the plan for sampling locations in drin-
king water systems.
• The sampling valve can be installed horizontally or verti-
cally to any valve with testing lobes.
• Insure the piping system is pressure-free before installing
the sampling valve
• The valve housing is only tightened at closed position due
to possibility to align valve to right position during installa-
tion.
• Please check for closed condition after installing.
6.2. Assembly instructions
1. Install the sampling valve at the desired point in the piping
at a drainage/test plug
2. Adjust the pipe outlet (6) in desired position
• ensure the pipe inlet is in the right postion of housing
3. Tighten the nut (4) with 30 Nm
4. Attach the handwheel
5. In case of loosening the valve housing always tighten just
nut (3)

7. Operation

The operation of the valve is done by turning the hand wheel
(5) in the positions open/close.
After sampling has been finished the stainless steel pipe can
be swiveled away from operating area.

8. Maintenance

8.1. Cleaning
It is possible to disinfect stainless steel pipe by flame.
Remove handwheel before flame treatment. The flaming of
the stainless steel pipe should not exceed 30 seconds above
the bend; maximum duration for the entire stainless steel pipe
should be 60 seconds. The flame should not be directed
directly at the housing so that the seals are not destroyed.
9. Disposal
Observe the local requirements regarding correct waste
recycling/disposal!
