Watching TV

Unless you set up TV channels that you can watch under the
current conditions, you cannot tune in those channels. For
the procedure, see "Setting up TV channels automatically" on
page 28.

Turning on the power

Press POWER on the Plasma Display.
• The STANDBY indicator on the Plasma Display
flashes red.

Press POWER on the Media Receiver.
• The system is turned on or placed into the standby
mode.

Confirm that the STANDBY indicators light up red, and
then press a or any button from 0 to 9 on the remote
control unit or STANDBY/ON on the Plasma Display to
turn the system on.
• In the standby mode, when you press 0, the power
turns on and the on-screen image comes from the
INPUT 1 source. When you press any button from 1 to
9, a TV image displays. Or, when you press a, the last
image displays.
• The POWER ON indicators on the Plasma Display
and Media Receiver light up in green.
• In this manual, "system" mean the Plasma Display Panel
and Media Receiver.
• You can also reverse steps 1 and 2.

Turning off the power

1 Press a on the remote control unit or STANDBY/ON
on the Plasma Display.
• The system enters standby mode and the image on
the screen disappears.
• Both STANDBY indicators light up in red.
• The TIMER indicator lights when a programme is
preset for recording/watching. Do not turn off the
POWER button on the Media Receiver when the
TIMER indicator lights, or presetting will fail.
• It is recommended to place the system into the
standby mode after using it. This allows the system to
automatically receive Electronic Programme Guide
information signals (and DTV Auto Update:
PDP-505XDE/435XDE only) in the standby mode.

Press POWER on the Media Receiver.
• The STANDBY indicator on the Media Receiver turns
off and the one on the Plasma Display flashes red.

Press POWER on the Plasma Display.
• The STANDBY indicator on the Plasma Display turns
off.
• You can also reverse steps 2 and 3.
• If you are not going to use this system for a long period of
time, be sure to remove the power cord from the power
outlet.
• When the system is placed into the standby mode, the
main power flow is cut and the system is no longer fully
operational. A minute flow of power feeds the system to
maintain operation readiness.
