General power tool safety warnings

WARNING!
Stay alert, watch what you are doing and
use common sense when operating the
tool. Do not use the tool while you are
ill, tired or under the influence of drugs,
alcohol or medication.
A moment of inattention while operating the
tool may result in serious personal injury.
Avoid improper use. Use the machine only
as described under "Intended use".
Keep all body parts away from the saw chain
while the saw is running. Before starting the
saw, make sure that the saw chain is not touch-
ing anything. When working with a chainsaw, a
moment of inattentiveness can lead to clothing or
body parts getting caught in the saw chain.
Always hold the chainsaw with your right
hand on the rear handle and your left hand
on the front handle. Holding the chainsaw in
an inverted working posture increases the risk
of injuries and is prohibited.
Hold the power tool only by the insulated
gripping surfaces because the saw chain can
come into contact with hidden cables. Saw
chains touching a live wire make metal parts of
the power tool live and could cause an electric
shock to the operator.
Wear protective goggles and ear muffs.
Additional protective equipment for your
head, hands, legs and feet is recommended.
Suitable protective clothing reduces the risk of
injury from flying chips and accidental contact
with the saw chain.

Do not use the chainsaw in a tree. When
working in a tree, there is a risk of injury.
Make sure you have firm footing and use the
chainsaw only when standing on firm, safe
and level ground. Slippery ground or unstable
standing surfaces (e.g. on a step ladder) can
lead to a loss of balance or loss of control of
the chainsaw.
When sawing a branch that is under tension,
be prepared for it to spring back. Once the
tension in the wooden fibres is released, the
branch can hit the operator and/or knock the
chainsaw out of his hands.
Be extremely careful when cutting brushwood
and young trees. The thin material can catch in
the saw chain and fly in your direction or knock
you off balance.
Carry the chainsaw by the front handle when
switched off, with the saw chain facing away
from your body. When transporting or storing
the chainsaw, always put on the protective
cover. Careful handling of the chainsaw reduc-
es the probability of accidental contact with the
running saw chain.
Follow the instructions for lubrication, chain
tension and changing accessories. An incor-
rectly tensioned or lubricated chain can break
or increase the risk of kickback.
Keep the handles dry, clean and free from oil
and grease. Greasy, oily handles are slippery
and result in loss of control.
Saw wood only. Do not use the chainsaw for
work for which it is not intended. For example:
do not use the chainsaw to saw plastic,
masonry, or construction materials that are
not made of wood. Using the chainsaw for
work other than that for which it was intended
can lead to hazardous situations.
Start the cut using full power and keep the
chainsaw at top speed while sawing.
Ensure that there are no objects on the ground
that you can trip over.
Before using the tool for the first time, read the
operating instructions and pay close attention
to the safety instructions.
