5. Mode of operation

The electric boiler is suitable for operation with or without a room temperature controller. Operation without a controller is
possible with a wire jumper between "+ and R" (as standard). The temperature set at the control unit determines the heating
water flow temperature. This operating mode should be used as temporary or emergency operation.
The main operating mode is operation with the room temperature controller PT - xx. This operating mode makes the most of
the benefits of the electric boiler and ensures optimum operating convenience. The room temperature controller enables the
operating parameters to be checked and set. The controller has a 7-day room temperature program and offers economical
operation through constant communication with the electric boiler. Heating mode in the electric boiler is enabled by closing
the contacts R and + via the controller.
The PT - xx room temperature controller requires a permanent power supply. Regular power-OFF periods can result in faults
(battery life).
The control unit switches on the circulation pump as soon as the control unit indicates that the water pressure is correct. The
circulation pump runs for 30 seconds without the heating elements being switched on. This enables any possible venting of
the heating circuit. The temperature differential between the actual and set temperature is then checked.
If the set temperature is 4 °C higher than the actual temperature, the electric boiler switches on 30% of the rated output. The
microprocessor then decides, depending on the rate of the temperature rise, whether the heating output should be increased or
reduced. The selected temperature is not exceeded and the temperature is stabilised with an accuracy of +/- 4 °C (hysteresis).
Heating operation is interrupted as soon as the contacts of the room temperature controller are opened. This means that the
selected room temperature has been reached.
To stabilise the heating system temperature, the circulation pump continues to work for 30 seconds. The next heating cycle
is possible once this time has elapsed.

6. safety equipment

In order to protect the electric boiler, the heating system and the electrical installation, the following safety equipment has
been installed in the appliance:
6.1

High limit safety cut-out of the heating elements

If a fault in the control unit results in an unchecked temperature increase of up to approx. 95 °C in the copper cylinder, the
high limit safety cut-out responds and the heating elements are switched off when the contactor is opened. This is indicated
by steady flashing of the LED next to the word "SIEĆ" (MAINS). When the cylinder has cooled down and the RESET button is
pressed, the high limit safety cut-out can be reset. However, first the cause must be identified and rectified.

6.2 Return temperature limiter

The efficiency of all heating appliances depends in part on the matching of the heating circuit. Reliable information on this is
provided by the temperature differential between the flow and return temperature (DT). This temperature differential should
be approx. 20 °C. It has been determined that the return temperature, with a maximum flow temperature of 85 °C, must not
exceed 70 °C.
If this occurs, the control unit will limit the appliance's heating output and can, in an emergency, initiate a full shutdown of the
heating elements.
