Mounting and Connection Instructions IK3 Operating Unit with Keypad
Operation with transponders
Hold the transponder approximately
In order to achieve a greater transmission range when using the transponder, a relatively high
current is required during transmission (<50 mA).
Without transponder transmission (5 sec. after the last transmission), the operating unit
automatically switches from active write/read mode to low current mode and thus reduces the
current consumption on average to <11 mA.
If the transponder is used in conjunction with an operating unit in low current mode, it
may take up to 1.2 sec. until it starts operating. Evaluation takes place within 0.9 sec.
when the write/read mode is activated.

Allocate addresses

6.2.1

Introduction

Every operating unit operated at an IK3 evaluation unit must have its
check
in the EU prevents addresses from being allocated several times.
Possible
address range:
The allocation of the addresses varies. The following information is intended to assist you in
choosing the best methods for your special requirement. A detailed description on the individual
methods can be found in the following chapters.
1.) Manually via the central control unit
Enter the unique number (serial number) of the operating unit plus the desired address via
the programming of the central control unit. The address is then stored in the operating
unit.
Recommended standard methods.
2.) Automatically with transponder
Start the process with an IK2 / IK3 transponder in the reading area of the operating unit.
The address is allocated automatically and then stored in the operating unit. As long as the
address allocation mode is active, several operating units can be automatically allocated
addresses in succession.
Recommendation:
Suitable for shorter distances between the central control unit / EU and the individual
operating units. (Manual input of the unique numbers of the operating units is not required).
3.) Manually via operating unit keypad
An address is allocated via the keypad at the operating unit.
Recommended:
When a specific address has to be allocated to an operating unit on site.
4.) Manuelly via operating unit keypad - stand alone operating mode
Only
the operating unit voltage requires connecting at the operating unit. The address
allocation mode must not be active, neither is a connection to the EU necessary.
An address is allocated via the keypad at the operating unit.
Recommended:
When servicing or testing.
