5. Safety instructions

m WARNING – Reading the operating instructions will
reduce the risk of injury.
m WARNING – Read all safety warnings and in-
structions. Failure to follow all safety warnings and instruc-
tions may result in electric shock, fire and/or serious injury.
Keep all safety instructions and information for
future reference. Pass on your air tool only together with
these documents.
The user or user's employer must evaluate the specific risks
associated with each application of the tool.
The Multi-Purpose Air Tool is also called the "non-rotating,
percussive machine" or the "machine" in the following safety
rules.vv

General safety rules

• Because of multiple hazards, the Safety Instructions must
be read and understood before the assembly, opera-
tion, repair, maintenance and exchange of accessories
as well as before working in proximity to the non-rotating
percussive machine. Otherwise this can lead to severe
physical injuries.
• The non-rotating percussive machine should be set up,
adjusted or used only by experienced and trained op-
erators.
• The non-rotating percussive machine may not be modi-
fied. Modifications can reduce the effectiveness of the
safety measures and increase risks for the operator.
• The Safety Instructions must not be lost - give them to the
operator.
• Never use the non-rotating percussive machine if it is
damaged.
• The machines must be maintained at regular intervals to
check that the rated properties and markings are legible
on the machine as required by the attached part of ISO
11148. If necessary, the employee/user must contact the
manufacturer to obtain replacement labels for marking
the machine.
• Look after your air tools carefully. Regularly check that
all moving parts are functioning correctly without jam-
ming. Also regularly ensure that no parts are broken
or damaged to an extent that they affect the opera-
tion of the air tool. Check that all signs and labels are
legible and intelligible. Have damaged parts repaired
or replaced before using the tool. Many accidents are
caused by poorly maintained air tools.

Special Safety Instructions

Risks associated with ejected parts
• Isolate the non-rotating percussive machine from the
electric power supply before changing the machine tool
or accessories.
• If either the workpiece, accessory parts or the machine
breaks, parts may be ejected at high speed.
• While operating, maintaining or repairing the air tool,
or replacing accessory parts, you must always wear
impact-resistant safety goggles. The degree of protec-
tion required for each individual task must be evaluated
separately in each case.
• Wear a safety helmet if carrying out work above your
head.
• In this case, the risks to other persons should also be as-
sessed.
• Ensure that the workpiece is securely attached.
• Operate the machine only if the machine tool is held in
the machine by means of a suitable lock.
• To avoid injury, all parts of the locking device display-
ing signs of wear, or that are broken or bent, must be
replaced.
• Place the mounted tool firmly on the surface to be
worked on before switching on the air tool.
