Cause
Inadequate compression
1. Piston seizure
2. Con-rod small or bia end seized
3. Piston rings worn
4. Cylinder liner worn
5. Low torque cylinder head nuts
6. Head gasket blowing
7. Spark plug loose
8. Incorrect valve play
9. Valve springs weak or seized
10. Valves seized
11. Incorrect decompressor adjustment
No or weak spark
1. Spark plug faulty
2. Spark plug or wet
3. Spark plug gap too large
4. Ignition coil faulty
5. H.T. leads damaged or short circuiting
Fuel not reching carburettor
1. Fuel tank cap breather blocked
2. Fuel tap blocked
3. Fuel feed pipes blocked
4. Carburettor fuel filter dirty
5. Worn out float valve or, or worn out floats
6. Rocker blocking float valve
Carburettor flooding
1. High fuel level in float bowls
2. Worn out float valve or, or worn out floats in open position
1. Spark plug dirty
2. Electronic control unit faulty
3. Carburettor jets blocked
Piston noise
1. Excessive play between cylinder liner and piston
2. Excessive coke in combustion chamber or on piston crown
3. Excessive carbon layers inside the combustion chamber,
or on the piston top
4. Worn rocker arm
5. Excessive valve play
6. Valve springs weak or seized
7. Cam chain worn
8. Incorrect cam chain adjustment
Crankshaf noise
1. Main bearings worn
2. High radial and axial play at con-rod big end
3. Crankshaft and countershaf gearing damaged
Clutch noise
1. Plates worn
2. Excesive free play between clutch drum and drive plates
Gearbox noise
1. Gears worn
2. Gear splines worn
