1. Safety Information

1. Follow the installation instructions.
2. Use the appliance

•• with due regard to safety and risk of danger
3. Note that the appliance is exclusively for use in the
applications detailed in these installation instruc-
tions. Any other use will not be considered to com-
ply with requirements.
4. All assembly operations should be carried out by
competent and authorised personnel.
5. Immediately rectify any malfunctions which may in-
fluence safety.

2. Functional Characteristics

Hard or medium-hard drinking water contains large
amounts of lime, which can deposit in pipes, fittings
and devices and result in irreparable damages.
Water conditioning devices (softeners) are based on
the simple exchange of salts.
The hardness-forming magnesium and calcium ions
are replaced by other ion pairings. For this purpose,
the water conditioning device is supplied with a special
softening salt. The hardness-forming elements remo-
ved from the drinking water are fed into the sewerage.

6. Assembly

6.1 Installation

It is necessary during installation to follow the installa-
tion instructions, to comply with local requirements and
to follow the codes of good practice.
The installation location should be protected against
frost and be easily accessible.
The installation location has to be protected against
extreme heat and direct sunlight.
The surface upon which the device is to be placed has
to be even, solid and clean.
Installation in cold water pipes in front of the drinking
water heater and its overpressure protection device.
The assembly of a bypass with shut-off devices is re-
quired.
The water conditioning device has to be at room tem-
perature.
CAUTION!
If the supply pressure exceeds 8.5 bar, a pres-
sure reducer has to be connected!
If the supply pressure exceeds 4 bar, we recom-

mend the installation of a pressure reducer in
front of the water conditioning device!

6.2 Assembly Instructions (Fig. 1)

CAUTION!
In order to avoid irreversible damages to the
water conditioning device, all welding and sol-
dering work in the immediate vicinity has to be
completed prior to assembly!
We recommend you to use the AS52-A connec-

tion set ( accessories).
1. Thoroughly flush pipework.
2. Install the water conditioning device.
Connect the water conditioning device.
•• Note flow direction (indicated by arrow).
•• Install without tension or bending stresses.
3. Connect the sewerage tube to the discharge con-
nection (inner tube ø min. 13 mm, 1/2").
