7 Troubleshooting
Problem
Very little
or no coffee
flows
through the
portafilter.
Espresso
brews out
only as
drops.
Espresso
brews too
quickly.

Cause
No water in tank.
The screen
the brew head (6) is
blocked.
The sieve is blocked.
Coffee grounds are
too fine or packed
down too firmly.
Machine blocked by
calcium deposits.
Ground coffee is too
coarse.
Not enough coffee in
the sieve.
Manual Espresso Machine
Remedy
Fill the tank with water.
inside Brew
the screen without the
portafilter (7) inserted. If
no water comes through,
unscrew
clean and replace.
Correction: Clean the
sieve, insert into the
portafilter (7) and pump
water through without
coffee. If no water comes
through the sieve call
Customer
order
sieve.
Do not tamp coffee
grounds so firmly. Use a
coarser grind of coffee.
Decalcify the appliance.
See chapter 8c.
Use a finer grind.
Use more ground coffee.
