Special Situations for 60924:
G
On some models you will have to shorten the
alignment pins on the permanent magnet field
(Example: three-axle trucks).
G
You may have to use different mounting screws
for the brush plate (M 2.5 or M3).
G
Models with a retaining bracket on the brush
plate: These models cannot be converted.
G
Milling work is necessary on several models.
Tip: Let your authorized Märklin dealer with
a repair department do this conversion.
Tip: Too great a tolerance may occur when conver-
ting older models. Carefully adjust the armature in
this situation.
1.3 Option with 60923, 60924:
New Light Bulb Socket
Note: Headlights that have regular light bulbs grounded
through the locomotive body may flicker and this is
normal.
Solution: Convert the headlights to a two-conductor,
electrically insulated socket. A new light bulb socket is
included with the 60923 + 60924 kits for this purpose
and it can be used on many types of locomotives as
well as on locomotives with the bayonet or screw-in
socket. There must not be any electrical connection
between a new and an old light bulb socket.

1.4 Wiring
G
Connect the power wires (red, brown) and the
motor wires (green, blue). Don't forget the chokes
on the connections to the motor!
G
Connect the headlights. Use the orange wire as a
ground only when the headlights have no electrical
connection to the locomotive's frame! Now change
wires if necessary so that the headlights at each
end are on when the locomotive is going in that
particular direction.
G
Connect any auxiliary functions that are present.
Power wire for f1: brown/red wire.
Power wire for f2: brown/green wire.
Preferred ground wire: orange wire.
Alternative: brown wire (locomotive frame).
Never connect the orange wire with the brown wire!
Examples of connections: ➔ Figures 1 – 4.
Wire colors:
red
= track power conductor
brown
= ground return
gray
= hot wire to the front headlight
yellow
= hot wire to the rear headlight
blue
= motor connection
green
= motor connection
orange
= ground return for functions
brown/red
= hot wire to function 1
brown/green = hot wire to function 2
violet
= ground for the circuit board
