• Only use the product for a single patient.
• Inform the patient.
The 3R38 Modular Single Axis Knee Joint and the 3R39 with Lock are to
be used exclusively for children's prosthetic fitting of amputations of the
lower limb (fig. 1).
The use of these components is limited to patients up to 145 cm (4'9")
tall with foot lengths up to 21 cm and weighing up to 45 kg (99 lbs).
The knee axis (4) is placed 8 mm posterior to the weight bearing line and
provides connection between the upper joint section (1) and the lower joint
section (2) in which the extension mechanism is accom modated.
The integrated lock mechanism secures the 3R39 Joint in extended posi-
tion. By means of the lock cord, coming out from the upper joint section,
the lock is released and flexion may take place.
Connection to proximal (to the socket) is provided by means of the ad-
justment pyramid (3), to distal it takes place by means of the clamp attach-
ment in the lower joint section where the modular tube is inserted.
2.1 Service life
INFORMATION
As a basic principle, all Ottobock knee joints are subjected to tests invol-
ving three million load cycles. Depending on the amputee's activity this
corresponds to a service life of three to five years.
We recommend carrying out regular safety checks once a year.
