LifeStraw®
LifeStraw® filters water quickly and easily. The
product requires no batteries or replacement
parts, and filters at least 1,000 liters of water
over its lifetime. LifeStraw® can be used to
drink directly from an open body of water, like
a river or lake, or a container, like a bottle or a
glass. Its lightweight and slender design makes
it perfect for hiking, travelling, and camping in
areas where water may be unsafe to drink due
to contamination by bacteria or parasites.
LifeStraw® uses advanced microfiltration
membrane technology that removes up to
99.9999 percent of bacteria (e.g., Escherichia
coli, Vibrio cholerae, and Salmonella typhi)
and 99.9 percent of protozoan cysts (e.g.,
Cryptosporidium parvum, Giardia lamblia) that
produce waterborne diseases. LifeStraw®
therefore greatly reduces the risk of
contracting illnesses such as diarrhea,
dysentery, and Giardia.
