8. Inserting, exchanging and charging rechargeable
batteries
Attention!
Only operate the microscope camera with 3 rechargeable NiMH batteries
type AAA/micro.
Once batteries are inserted, charging starts immediately upon connection
to a USB port (or to the power pack unit).
This may result in a fire or explosion of the batteries!
• Open the battery compartment on the rear and slide the cover out sideways.
• Insert three rechargeable batteries type AAA/micro observing the correct polarity (plus/+
and minus/-, see imprint in the battery compartment and on the batteries).
The rechargeable batteries may already be inserted upon delivery and possibly
be protected with a strip of film against deep discharge. Remove this strip.
• Replace the lid of the rechargeable battery compartment.
• The rechargeable batteries are usually empty upon delivery.
Connect the microscope camera via the enclosed USB cable with the power unit.
Insert the power pack into a (230V~/50Hz) mains socket.
• If the microscope camera is turned off, the white LED of the camera blinks:
2 blinks every three seconds: Battery is being recharged.
1 blink every three seconds: Charging process completed
• The rechargeable battery is also charged when connecting the microscope camera to the
computer's USB port. This is why you need a USB port for connection that is capable of
providing a current of 500mA (high-power USB port), e.g. the USB port on the front or the
back of the computer or a USB hub with its own power pack.
