b) Start-Up

• Place the film scanner on a level, firm, and sufficiently large area.
• Plug in the included SD memory card in the memory card slot on the rear. Observe correct
orientation and do not apply any force.
If no SD memory card is inserted, the slide/film scanner uses its internal memory.
Only a few images can be stored there; the available memory is about 24.5 MByte.
You may also use a different SD memory card; the slide/film scanner supports SD memory
cards of up to 2GByte and SDHC memory cards of up to 16GByte.
• Connect the film scanner to the mains adapter with the included USB cable. Plug the mains
adapter into a mains socket.
Your computer's USB port can also be used for power supply. For this, use a USB port of
your computer or a USB hub with a separate mains adapter, since otherwise the power
supply will not suffice (e.g. in case of a USB port on the keyboard, etc.).
• Switch on the slide/film scanner by briefly pressing
the "
" button (1). The start menu is displayed for
a few seconds, see image on the right.
If no button is pressed for a few seconds,
the slide/film scanner automatically goes
into scanning mode ("Capture").
• Insert the slides or negative into the respective holder; see chapters 6 and 7. Then slide the
holder into the film scanner from the right. Observe correct orientation of the slide or negative
holder.
• For scanning, follow the information on the LC display integrated in the film scanner.
Select functions with the buttons " Right/Up" (2) and " Left/Down" (3), confirm with "OK".
The respective active menu item is highlighted in colour.
• After scanning slides or negatives, the memory card can be removed from the slide/film
scanner and inserted into a card reader.
Alternatively, connect the slide/film scanner to a USB port of your computer and activate USB
mode. This is also required to read the data of the internal memory through the computer.
