Furthermore the receiver has AFC and squelch circuitry, a combined indicator for
field strength and battery check, switchable scale illumination and an earphone
connection.
By connecting a microphone or another audio source, the World Receiver can be
used as a voice or line amplifier.
By connecting a suitable adapter at its rear, the receiver can also be operated via the
12 Volt DC socket of a vehicle.
Observance of statutory regulations!
The Voyager RY-630 World Receiver is intended as a broadcast recei-
ver. Within the limits of current (January 2000) statutory regulations (in
Germany), it can be purchased, owned and operated by anybody.
However, only transmissions intended for the general public may be
listened to in Germany at any time. These transmissions include broa-
dcast, CB and amateur transmissions and certain weather services.
Listening to other transmissions serving for example the police, air
traffic, fire and rescue services, shipping, etc. is prohibited by law in
Germany (§ 86 TKB). Listening to such radio services is punishable!
In addition, should such transmissions be overheard accidentally, they
may not be recorded, utilised or passed on to other persons and the
fact of the reception may not be communicated.
In its 31.07.1996 version, § 86 of the German telecommunication law
(ban on listening in, compulsory secrecy for users of receiving equip-
ment) among other things states:
"Information not intended for it may not be listened to with radio
equipment. The content of such information and the fact of its recepti-
on, even when that reception occurred accidentally, may ... not be
communicated to others. The right to receive broadcast transmissions
... remains unaffected."
Amendments to the statutory regulations can be queried at branches
of the German Post and Telecommunication regulating authorities.
Please note in addition that outside Germany other statutory regulati-
ons exist. Before using the World Receiver outside Germany, please
find out which transmissions may be listened to.
