1. Intended use:

Measurement (by Hall-effect sensor) of direct and alternating
currents up to 600 A DC and A AC rms max.
Output of the converted current is in the form of a DC voltage of
from 1 mV to 600 mV to an oscilloscope via the captive connec-
ting cable.
Measurements must not be performed under unfavourable am-
bient conditions. Unfavourable ambient conditions include:

• wetness or excessive air humidity,
• dust and combustible gases, fumes or solvents,
• thunderstorms or storm conditions such as strong electro-
static fields, etc.
Any use other than as described above can lead to damage to the
product and can also cause hazards, such as for example short cir-
cuit, fire, electric shock etc. No part of the product may be modi-
fied or converted! The safety instructions are to be followed
without fail!

2. Introduction

The AC/DC Current Clamp Adapter 160 can be used for both DC
and AC currents up to 600 A max. After attachment to an oscil-

loscope with an input resistance of equal to or greater than
1 MOhm, the output of the adapter can be set to "0" with the
"ZERO ADJUST" control. The current clamp has an opening
width of 30 mm max. (to "enclose" the current rail, single con-
ductor, cable system, etc.). The adapter can be universally applied
in hobby, educational and (limited) industrial areas.

3. Safety information

• The AC/DC Current Clamp Adapter is EMC-tested (for domestic
applications) and safety-tested and meets European directives
89/336/EU and 73/23/EU.
• The current clamp adapter left the factory in perfectly techni-
cally safe condition. To maintain this condition and to ensure
safe operation, it is essential for the user to observe the safety
instructions and warning notes which are contained in these
user instructions.
• The AC/DC Current Clamp Adapter must not be used in instal-
lations in IEC overvoltage category III. The measuring instru-
ment is not protected against arc explosions.
