Adjustment for line frequency (50 Hz or 60 Hz)
Press briefly on the "MODE" button until "50H" or "60H" flashes in the display. Switch to
the other desired setting by using the "SET" button. However, this is only required if you
wish to take pictures in a large room with fluorescent lamps since in this environment a
faulty adjustment may lead to stripes on the picture. In outdoor areas this setting is not
important.
Automatic release
Press briefly on the "MODE" button until the automatic release symbol appears. Press the
"SET" button in order to start the automatic release (an audio signal is emitted). After about
10 seconds a photo is taken automatically. The automatic release can be activated again
by using the "SET" button; otherwise press the "MODE" button until "HI" or "LO" appears
again in the LC display.
Video recording
Press briefly on the "MODE" button until the video camera symbol appears. Then press
the "SET" button.
This function is only available if a SD memory card is inserted!
Press the "SET" button in order to start or to end a video recording. The recording is mem-
orized as an AVI file (resolution 320*240 pixels).
Deleting the last picture taken
Press briefly on the "MODE" button until the symbol mapped on the left appears. Push the
button "SET"; symbol appears continuously (symbol does not flash any longer). Now hold
the "SET" key pressed for a longer time until an acoustic signal is emitted; the last picture
is deleted.
Deleting all memorised pictures
Press briefly on the "MODE" button until the symbol mapped on the left appears. Push the
button "SET"; symbol appears continuously (symbol does not flash any longer). Now press
the "SET" button for a longer period (about 3-4 seconds) and then release the button.
Depending on the available amount of pictures (e. g. on a SD memory card), it may take
a while until the acoustic signal is emitted, after that all pictures will be deleted.
Formatting the memory card
With this function the SD memory card can be formatted.
This function only appears in the display if a SD memory card is inserted!
Press briefly on the "MODE" button until "FORMAT" appears in the display. Press the
"SET" button, the display does not flash any longer. Now press the "SET" button for a
longer period (about 3-4 seconds) and then release the button. "Act" appears in the dis-
play; the memory card is formatted. All the data on the memory card will be lost!
PC connection for transmitting pictures
If you are using a big SD memory card, we recommend the use of a USB2.0 memory card
reader for the transmission. Otherwise, the transmission will be quite slow because the
digital camera in the binoculars is only USB1.1 supported.
If you are using Windows 98/98SE, before the connection install the driver of the CD con-
tained in the delivery first.
This is not necessary with Windows ME/XP/Vista. The driver is already included in the sys-
tem software!
• Connect the product via the USB cable, contained in the delivery, to a free USB port of the comput-
er. The digital camera in the binoculars switches on automatically.
The internal memory (or the SD card, if inserted) will be integrated after a few seconds exactly like a
zip drive. Now copy the data stored in the internal memory (or the SD memory card, if inserted) onto
your computer.
• Wait for a few seconds after the end of the copying process before disconnecting the connection
cable.
Tips and Instructions
• When removing the batteries resp. changing the batteries the data on the internal memory are lost.
However, the data on the SD memory card is preserved.
• The internal memory (8MB for order no. 671591 resp. 16MB for order no. 671590) is not fully avail-
able because one part is needed for internal processes (buffering, image calculation and so on).
• If a SD memory card is being used, the internal memory is not available (i.e. the pictures which are
taken are written on the memory card and not in the internal memory).
• The object to be photographed should be at least 5m away. Closer objects will be out of focus.
• Switch off the product before inserting or removing a SD memory card.
• Only use one SD memory card with max. 2GByte. SDHC memory cards may not be used.
• New SD memory cards are normally preformatted so that re-formatting is not required.
If the SD memory card is removed while the camera is switched on or during saving or erasing
processes, the file system on the memory card may be damaged. In such cases, the SD memory
card can be formatted again either on a computer or in the camera itself (see chapter "Description of
the menu functions"). However, all data on the memory card will be lost during the formatting
process.
• Make sure the write protection of the SD memory card is deactivated, otherwise the message "Prt"
will appear in the display and a warning signal is emitted. Then remove the SD card and switch off
the write protection (lateral slider on the SD memory card).
• Apart from the Windows 98SE driver, the CD contains a simple image processing software. This soft-
ware is not required to operate the product; it is not suitable for Windows Vista either.
Cleaning
Clean the product with a soft, clean and lint-free cloth only as other materials may scratch the lenses
or the casing. Never use agressive detergents as they might damage the casing (e.g. discoloration).
Dust can be removed using a clean, soft brush and a vacuum cleaner.
Disposal
a) Product
Electronic devices are recyclable waste and must not be disposed of in the household
waste!
Dispose of the unserviceable product according to the relevant statutory regulations.
b) Batteries and rechargable batteries
The end user is legally obliged (Battery Regulation) to return used batteries and rechargeable batter-
ies. Do not dispose of used batteries via the domestic waste!
Batteries/rechargeable batteries containing harmful substances are marked with
the following symbols, which point out that disposal in the domestic waste is prohibited.
The symbols for the relevant heavy metals are: Cd=cadmium, Hg=mercury, Pb=lead
(designation can be found on battery/rechargeable battery under the trash icons on the
bottom left).
You can dispose of your used batteries/rechargeable batteries free of charge at your
community's collection point or any place where batteries/rechargeable batteries are
sold!
You thus fulfil your statutory obligations and contribute to the protection of the environment.
