Recording without Voice Control
(with the built-in microphone)
Switch off switch VOX (OFF position). (See also chapter: Recording
with Voice Control). Press the RECORD and PLAY button simulta-
neously. Take the ballpoint pen out of its holder, the red REC dis-
play lights up. With VOLUME control you set the recording level.
The maximum setting is usually the best. Make sure not to cover up
the built-in microphone, it is located next to the VOX switch. If you
can not bring the device near the sound source or covering up of the
microphone is unavoidable, use an external microphone (see chap-
ter: Recording with an external Microphone).
To briefly interrupt the recording, press the PAUSE button down, a
small red indicator lights up. To continue recording press back the
PAUSE button into the up position. Put the ballpoint pen in the
holder to briefly interrupt the operating mode. For longer pauses
during play, press the STOP button.
Recording with Voice Control
(with the built-in microphone)
Switch on the VOX switch (ON position). Press the RECORD and
PLAY button simultaneously. Take out the ballpoint pen from the
holder and the red REC display begins to light up. With the VOL-
UME control set the audio level threshold for the recording. When
sound is registered recording starts automatically. If sound is no
longer registered the recording will automatically be interrupted
after approx. 3 to 4 seconds and the device goes into standby
mode. When registering a new sound the recording will continue.
To determine optimal audio level threshold, the test recordings
should be carried out at different volumes. Attention: if the response
threshold has been set too low it is possible that quiet passages are
not recorded. The recording level can not be set in operating mode.

Playback
Set the cassette speed at the speed at which the recording was
made (see chapter: Cassette Speed).
Press the PLAY button. Take the ballpoint pen from the holder to
enable the function. With VOLUME control you set a comfortable
volume. To briefly interrupt playback press the PAUSE button into
the lower position, a small red indicator appears. To continue play-
back put the PAUSE button back into the up position. Put the ball-
point pen in the holder to briefly interrupt the mode. For longer
pauses during playback, press the STOP button.

Fast Forward/Fast Reverse

To fast forward the tape (without sound), slide the F.FWD/CUE
REW/REV button into position F.FWD/CUE during mode STOP. To
stop fast forwarding slide the F.FWD/CUE REW/REV button back
into middle position or press the STOP / EJECT button. To fast
reverse the tape (without sound) slide the F.FWD/CUE REW/REV
button onto position REW/REV. during operating mode STOP. To
stop fast reversing slide the F.FWD/CUE REW/REV button back into
middle position or press the STOP / EJECT button.
Make sure the ballpoint pen is out of the holder to enable the func-
tion.
Search Run
To forward the tape during the operating mode PLAY at high speed
but with sound (CUE), slide the F.FWD/CUE REW/REV button to
position F.FWD. If you release the button, the device will return to
operating mode PLAY.
To reverse the tape during the operating mode PLAY at high speed
but with sound (CUE), slide the F.FWD/CUE REW/REV button to
