Intended use
The product is used to attract insects by the light of the fl uorescent tubes with a high UV light
content, and to kill them by getting an electric shock on the grating located inside the product.
The product must not get damp or wet, it is intended only for installation and use in dry, indoor
locations.
Always observe the safety instructions and all other information included in these operating
instructions!
Any use other than that described above could lead to damage to this product and involves the
risk of short circuits, fi re, electric shock, etc.

Explanation of Symbols, Inscriptions
The lightning symbol inside a triangle is a warning to inform you of potential risks of
personal injury, such as electric shock.
This symbol indicates specifi c risks associated with handling, function and use.
The "Hand" symbol indicates special tips and operating information.
The product is intended only for installation and use in dry interiors; it must not be
exposed to moisture or dampness.
Never cover the unit.

Safety Instructions
Please read all instructions before using this device, they include important
information on its correct operation.
The warranty will be void in the event of damage caused by failure to observe
these safety instructions! We do not assume any liability for any resulting
damage!
We shall not accept liability for damage to property or personal injury caused
by incorrect handling or non-compliance with the safety instructions! In such
cases, the warranty will be null and void.
a) General
• Unauthorised conversion and/or modifi cation of the product is not allowed for
safety and approval reasons (CE).
• The product is not a toy and does not belong in the hands of children! Children do
not realize the danger arising from the incorrect use of electrical devices. There-
fore, be especially careful when children are around! Install the product out of the
reach of children. Otherwise, there is a risk of a life-threatening electric shock!
• The product must not be used by persons with limited physical, mental or sensory
capabilities or persons with a lack of experience or education, unless they are
trained and instructed by persons who are responsible for their safety.
• Do not leave packaging material carelessly lying around, since it could become a
dangerous plaything for children.
• In commercial institutions, the accident prevention regulations of the Employer's
Liability Insurance Association for Electrical Systems and Operating Facilities are
to be observed!

Installation

• The ideal mounting location for the UV insect killer is the darkest place in the room, at a
mounting height of 2 m (depending on the height of the room/mounting location).
Keep a suffi cient distance to other light sources, to windows, doors, curtains and furniture.
Normally, insects are attracted to the UV insect killer if there are no other light sources in the
room.
• The UV insect killer can be hung up on two hooks on the ceiling using the chain provided and
the two hooks on the upper side of the housing.
Depending on the ceiling's material and condition, use suitable hooks and wall plugs. Pay
attention when drilling and tightening the screws that no cable or pipes are damaged.
Hang the UV insect killer so that it does not hang down in a slope and the mains switch is
easily accessible.
b) Assembly and operation
• This product must be installed and used only in dry conditions indoors. The prod-
uct must not get damp or wet as there is danger of a fatal electric shock!
• Do not use this product in rooms that are under adverse environmental conditions
where combustible gases, vapours or dust are or may be present! There is a risk
of explosion!
The product is not suitable for installation and operation in barns, stables, haylofts
or similar rooms.
• Never mount the product in areas where food is used or processed (e.g. bakeries,
butcher's shops, kitchens etc.). If insects reach the parts inside the device carrying
high voltage, parts of the insect may be thrown out of the UV insect killer.
• Always use the suspension holes on the upper side of the device for the installa-
tion. Never hang up the product on the mains cable.
• The product must not be exposed to extreme temperatures, strong vibrations or
heavy mechanical stress.
• The product is suitable for use only in temperate, not tropical, climates.
• Never cover the UV insect trap when it is in use. There is a risk of fi re or danger
to life through an electric shock if part of clothes or objects get in contact with the
inside of the device.
• Furthermore, observe the regulations regarding the use of insect traps or insect
killers applicable in your country before you connect and use the device.
• The product is intended to be connected to an appropriate earthed safety socket
(Schuko) of the public grid.
If there is no such socket with functional protective-earth contact, the product must
not be connected/used as there is the risk of a life-threatening electric shock in the
event of a fault!
The mains socket into which the mains plug of the UV insect trap is plugged must
be easily accessible.
• Do not pull the power plug from the mains socket by pulling on the cable.
• If the product casing or the mains cable is damaged, do not use the product any
longer. A defective mains cable may only be replaced by a specialist.
Switch off all the poles of the mains socket to which the mains cable is connected
(switch off at the corresponding circuit breaker or remove the safety fuse, then
switch off the earth leakage circuit breaker). Only then can you disconnect the plug
of the mains cable from the mains socket.
Afterwards, get the product checked by an expert or dispose of it in an environ-
mentally friendly way.
• If it can be assumed that safe operation is no longer possible, the device must be
turned off and precautions must be taken to ensure that it is not used unintention-
ally.
Safe operation can no longer be assumed if:
- the product shows visible signs of damage
- the product does not work properly or does not work at all
- the product was stored for a longer period of time in unfavourable conditions
- it was exposed to heavy loads during transport
• Do not touch the inside of the device with parts of your body or with objects. There
is a risk of a life-threatening electric shock!
• Always unplug the mains plug from the mains socket before cleaning the product, re-
placing the illuminants, repairing or maintaining the product. The same applies when
you are not going to use the product for a while (e.g. when storing).
