As already noted in the chapter "Connections and controllers", a mini PCIe card
can, depending on its construction, be a "true" PCIe card (only in a different, smaller
design) or a USB card, sometimes even both.
The mini PCIe connection (3) is designed in such a way that it supports both designs
(PCIe and USB connection).
If, when using the adapter card with the mini PCIe card inserted in it, you discover
that the computer has not found any new hardware or that the mini PCIe card does
not function correctly, you must set the jumpers JP1 and JP2 correctly (see above)
and, if necessary, create a USB connection between the adapter card and your
motherboard (either via the USB port (6) or the pin strip J1 (5)). The required cables
are not provided, but have to be ordered separately.
• T o use a GSM mini PCIe card, a suitable GSM card must still be inserted in the slot (8) (first
remove any dummy card that might be in the slot).
• Locate a free PCIe slot; remove the corresponding slot bracket and insert the adapter card
into the PCIe slot. Screw the adapter card firmly in place, making sure it is positioned cor-
rectly in the PCIe slot!
• Screw the provided antennae firmly into the connections (1) of the adapter card.
Naturally, depending on how many antenna connections your mini PCIe card has and how
many cables/connection plugs (7) you have used, you may not need to screw in all antennae.
Important!
Open, unused connection plugs (7) must be wrapped with a piece of insulation tape
so that no short circuit occurs in the computer. You can also secure the unused
cables/connection plugs in the PC with one or two cable ties.
• Close the computer housing.
• Reconnect your computer and monitor to the mains voltage and switch on all devices.
• If your computer does not start correctly, switch it off immediately and check all the settings
and cable connections.
Before opening the PC again, disconnect the PC from the mains voltage.

Driver Installation

The adapter card itself does not require a driver; thus, driver installation is necessary only
for the inserted mini-PCIe card. It is imperative that you observe the operating manual of the
mini-PCIe card you use.

Tips and Notes

If the mini PCIe card inserted into the adapter card is not recognised by the computer's operat-
ing system, then check:
• Is the mini PCIe card you are using based on USB? Then move the two jumpers JP1 and JP2
(4) to the 1-2 position (Pin 1 is marked with an arrow).
Moreover, either the USB socket (6) or the USB pin strip (5) should be connected to a USB
port on the computer using a suitable USB cable (not included, available separately).
• Is the mini-PCIe card PCIe-based? Then move the two jumpers JP1 and JP2 (4) to the 2-3
position (Pin 1 is marked with an arrow).
A USB connection between the adapter card and a USB port on the computer is not usually
required here.
However, there are a few mini PCIe cards that offer functions both by PCIe and by
USB. In this case, place the two jumpers JP1 and JP2 (4) in the 2-3 position. A USB
connection to the motherboard via the USB port (6) or the pin strip J1 (5) is also
necessary.
• The wireless function can be switched on or off with the jumper JP3. Make sure that the
jumper is correctly positioned (see also the label on the plate):
Wireless function switched on = Pin 1-2 is connected
Wireless function switched off = Pin 2-3 is connected
• The yellow LED shows a correct power supply (POWER LED); the green LED displays the
wireless function (function depends on the mini PCIe card used).
Disposal
Electrical and electronic devices should not be disposed of in the household
waste.
Dispose of an unserviceable product in accordance with the relevant statutory regu-
lations.
