The function of the 3 LEDs (6, 7, 8) is the same on both adapters.

Operation

1. Connect the USB plug (3) to a free USB port of your computer. The red power LED (8) on the adapter (1)
lights up. Windows
2. Connect the round low voltage plug of the plug-in power adapter provided to the low voltage socket (10).
The red power LED on the adapter lights up.
3. Finally connect both RJ45 sockets (2 and 5) via an 8-pole, fully wired, 1:1 connected patch cable. After a
short time the link LED (7) lights up on both adapters. In addition the data transfer LED (6) starts to flash.
Do not use any cross link cable and also no partially wired RJ45 cable, otherwise no function

4. Connect the USB plug of your USB device to the USB socket (9).
5. Windows
should recognize the new hardware depending on the USB device connected (e.g. if the USB

device has not been operated on the computer yet). Subsequently the USB device is available, as if it
was directly connected to the computer.
6. The data transmission LED (6) on the adapters flashes when transferring data (e.g. of a USB stick).
Only one single USB device can be connected. It is not possible to operate a USB hub with
several devices.
If you do not have any access to the USB device, check whether the firewall of your operating
system denies access. Then approve access via the firewall.
Tips & notes
• The maximum possible speed for transferring data via the patch cable depends on the USB device, the
PC and the cable length.
• A maximum of 7-8 MByte/s are effectively attainable (e.g. with a USB hard drive or a fast USB stick)
• Both RJ45 sockets of both adapters should be directly connected via a 1:1 connected patch cable. It is not
possible to operate a network switch or any similar device in between.
• Due to the large number of USB devices and their functions it is possible, that some devices cannot be
operated via the USB extension.
• It may also be the case, that not every single function is supported (e.g. ink level display of a printer or
similar).
