Applications
In combination with a 2.4 GHz receiver of the AV-... series of
MONACOR the transmitters AVM-100TX and AVM-250TX
serve for wireless audio and video transmission. For building
up a wireless video surveillance system merely a video
camera and a monitor are additionally required.
The transmission range largely depends on the local
conditions. The maximum is reached when there are no
obstacles between transmitter and receiver. However, the
range is reduced in buildings due to the condition of the
walls and ceilings.

By using an antenna with gain at the receiver, the range
can, however, be increased many times over.
1.1 Approval
According to the R+TTE regulation (Radio and Telecom-
munication Technical Equipment) the approvals for the
transmitters are valid in the countries of the European
Union. For operation outside the EU, please contact your
retailer or the MONACOR subsidiary in the country where
this unit will be operated.
Do not make any modifications to the adjusting controls
(trimmer and potentiometer)! The guarantee expires and
the approval of the transmitter will no longer be valid.

Safety Notes
This transmitter corresponds to the directive for electroma-
gnetic compatibility 89/336/EEC.
The transmitter is suitable for indoor use only. Protect it
against humidity and extreme temperatures (admissible
ambient temperature range -10 °C to +55 °C).
For cleaning only use a dry, soft cloth, by no means che-
micals or water.
If the transmitter is used for purposes other than originally
intended, if it is not connected correctly or not repaired in
an expert way, there is no liability for possible damage.
If the transmitter is to be put out of operation definitively,
take it to a local recycling plant for disposal which is not
harmful to the environment.

Setting into Operation
3.1 Placing the transmitter and receiver
Practical experience has shown that an optimum reception
is achieved when placing the units at a minimum height of
1.5 m to 2 m above ground. Prior to final mounting, a trial
run is recommended as the transmission quality can be
substantially changed by displacing the transmitter and
receiver by a few centimetres only.
3.2 Selection of the transmitting channel
The wireless transmission is made in the 2.4 GHz range
which has been divided by the manufacturer into 5 chan-
nels with a distance of 14 MHz. As a maximum, three
channels may be used at the same time because two adja-
cent channels interfere with each other. The following
channel selection is recommended:
two transmitters:
channels 1 and 5
three transmitters: channels 1, 3, and 5
Adjust the transmitting channel with the DIP switches
according to the figure below.
3.3 Connecting the transmitter
1) Solder a 75 Ω coaxial cable from the video output of the
camera or the signal source to the contact "video" and
the screening to the contact "ground". The level of the
video signal must be 1 Vpp according to standard.
2) For audio transmission, solder a screened audio cable
from the audio output of the camera or signal source to
the contact "audio" and the screening to the contact
"ground".
3) The transmitter AVM-250TX is equipped with a control
channel. If the receiver used is likewise equipped with a
control channel, it is possible to activate an optical or
acoustical signal device or another additional unit
connected to the receiver via this channel (e. g. video
recorder for automatic start of a recording). At the trans-
mitter the control channel is activated by short-circuit-
ing the contacts "control channel" and "ground". Solder
e. g. a motion detector with closing contact (NO) to
these contacts.
4) For power supply, a regulated 12 V power supply unit is
required (e. g. MONACOR PS-362ST). The current
consumption is 130 mA. Place the positive pole of the
power supply unit at the contact "+12 V" and the nega-
tive pole at the contact "ground". Then the transmitter is
ready for operation.
