2.5.2 Electrical Connection

The electrical connection of the heating elements is made with 3/N/PE ~ 50 Hz 400 V. Direct
connection with NYM is possible.
Direct connection with NYM is possible. The number of supply cables and wires as well as cable
cross sections depends on the connection rating of the unit and the type of mains connection and
on special electricity supply company regulations. Observe the appropriate circuit diagrams for
this.
When connecting the unit to an automatic charging control unit, voltages may occur at the
terminals A1/Z1 and A2/Z2 even when the fuses are removed.
Connection
Relieve the strain on the electrical connecting leads as required and connect according to the
electrical circuit diagram in the device (on the inside of the right side wall) or the connection
diagram opposite.
If the angle plate in the switching area for holding the mains terminals is poorly accessible due to
too small a spacing, it can be swung forward during connection work after loosening the screw
(not removing) in the rear wall.
Voltage (230 V) must be applied to the terminal "L" of the terminal strip X2 during the charging
time.
If no separate power supply is available for this, the terminal "L1" can be bridged with "L". In this
case the terminal "N" of the terminal strip X2 must always be bridged terminal "N" of terminal
strip X1 (only possible with wall-mounted room temperature regulators).
Please make sure that the protective earth is connected properly!
The cable for connecting a DC control signal must be insulated with a hose inside the unit from the
strain relief to the connecting terminal before connecting.
Control without heater contactor
If no heater contactor is to be installed (partly electricity supply company requirement) the
thermal relay installed in the storage heater at the factory can be used.
For this, either the electricity supply company signals "LF" and "N" or the signals "SH" and "N" of
the respective charging control must be connected directly to the terminals "L-SH" and "N" of the
storage heater. The notes marked * in the connection diagram must be observed.

The heating elements in the unit are not switched on until the electricity supply company has
released the LF and the electronic charging control unit starts charging.
A bridged must be inserted between "N" and "A2/Z2" for operation with "single-wire control"** !
