11.Teletext
Teletext is a text-based information system, which many TV transmitters transmit in the blanking interval of the television signal. The
teletext gives you actual news in an abridged form, sports results, the latest Lotto draw results or even cooking recipes (depending on
the transmitter).
Since the pages are transmitted consecutively and there are numerous telextext pages it might take some time until the desired page
is transmitted and is shown on the screen.
The teletext pages are normally transmitted from page 100 in a forward direction (with some TV transmitters transmitting the teletext
pages in a descending order); the number of the teletext pages or page numbers will differ and depends on the TV transmitter).
The starting page of the respective TV station is always on page 100. The current TV program of the respective trans-
mitter normally begins from the page 300.
In addition, they transmit and display the current date, the day of the week, and the hour in precise seconds.
a) Change from TV to teletext mode, "
You may use the " " (25) key to change from the TV mode to the teletext mode. If the device is in the teletext mode, by using the
"TV" (29) key you can change to the TV mode.
While changing into the teletext mode, it might take some seconds until the index page of the teletext is displayed
(page 100).
If no text display appears on the screen after these few seconds it might be possible that the selected TV transmitter is not transmit-
ting a teletext (or that the teletext of the TV transmitter has failed/has been turned off for a short time).
b) Mix the TV picture and the teletext page, "
This function is available only in the teletext mode.
The " " key may be used to admix the running TV picture to the teletext in the background.
This means that the running TV picture becomes visible instead of the background colour of the current teletext page (e.g. black).
This function can be used for fading-in the subtitles in the running television picture. For some programs (e.g. feature films of the trans-
mitters under public law) the dialogue of the actors can be faded in as a text (for example for deaf people). As a matter of course you
can use this function to follow the running program while reading the teletext.
Activate the teletext by using the " " (25) key
Select the subtitle page of the teletext (for "ARD" channel select the teletext page 150)
Fade in the TV picture as a background by using the "
To deactivate this function just press the " " (26) key once again.
As an option, you can press the " " (25) key two times to switch back to the normal TV mode.
c) Selecting the teletext page
A teletext page always has a three digit number e.g. 300.
Enter the desired teletext page by using the numeral keys 0-9 of the remote control unit.
To switch to the next teletext page, press the key "CH " and to switch to the previous teletext page press the "CH " key.
In most TV transmitters, page 100 is the page to start from to all the other pages. The TV program of the respective channel begins
from the page 300.
d) Selecting the teletext page 100, "
This function is available only in the teletext mode.
By using the " " (27) key of the remote control unit the teletext page 100 can be selected.
e) Displaying the TV picture while searching pages, "X" (23) key
This function is available only in the teletext mode.
For instance, if you have entered a page number in the teletext mode, it will mostly take some time until the corresponding page is
transmitted and shown on the screen.
Press the "X" key on the remote control (23), if you wish to see the television picture while search is under way.

e) Menüpunkt "PREFERENCE SETUP"
In diesem Menü sind diverse sonstige Einstellmöglichkeiten zusammengefasst.

• TV TYPE
Wählen Sie den Typ des extern angeschlossenen Fernsehers (PAL, MULTI, NTSC). Für die Wiedergabe auf der TV-DVD-Kombi ist
"PAL" die korrekte Einstellung.
• AUDIO
Hier lässt sich vorwählen, welche Audiospur beim Einlegen einer DVD automatisch gewählt wird. Bitte beachten Sie, dass dies bei
vielen DVDs nicht funktioniert! Sie müssen bei diesen DVDs im Menü der DVD selbst die gewünschte Audiospur auswählen.
• SUBTITLE
Stellen Sie hier ein, welche Untertitel-Sprache beim Einlegen einer DVD automatisch gewählt wird, bzw. schalten Sie die Untertitel
ab.
Je nach DVD muss diese Einstellung aber im Menü der DVD selbst erfolgen; die hier im Setup gewählte Einstellung wird übergan-
gen/ignoriert.
• DISC MENU
Diese Option legt fest, in welcher Sprache das Menü der DVD erscheint.
Bitte beachten Sie, dass dies bei vielen DVDs nicht funktioniert! Stellen Sie bei diesen DVDs im DVD-Menü selbst die Sprache ein.
• PARENTAL
Diese Funktion soll bei dazu ausgerüsteten DVDs die Wiedergabe einschränken (Level 8 = Erwachsener, Level 1 = Kind). Bestimmte
Szenen eines Films sind mit Filterwerten von 1 bis 8 versehen, eventuell stehen auf der DVD entsprechen alternative Szenen für Kin-
der zur Verfügung. Oft sind aber auf der DVD keine Filterwerte enthalten, das Abspielen dieser Szenen kann also nicht verhindert
werden. Zum Ändern der Einstellung ist zuerst ein Passwort (4stellige Zahlenkombination) einzugeben.
• PASSWORD
Vor der Änderung des Passwortes ist zur Sicherheit zuerst das alte Passwort (4stellige Zahlenkombination) einzugeben.
In der Grundeinstellung/Lieferzustand ist als Passwort "1369" einzugeben.
Geben Sie dann eine neue 4stellige Zahlenkombination ein, die Sie sich leicht merken können. Zur Sicherheit ist diese Zahlenkom-
bination ein weiteres Mal einzugeben, bevor sie akzeptiert wird.
Falls Sie das Passwort vergessen sollten, ist über die Option "DEFAULT", s.u., ein Reset möglich, der das Passwort wieder auf
"1369"
• DEFAULT
Alle Einstellungen im Setup können über diesen Menüpunkt auf den Lieferzustand zurückgestellt.
• MAIN PAGE
Über diesen Menüpunkt gelangen Sie wieder zum Hauptmenü zurück.
f) Menüpunkt "EXIT SETUP"
Nach Auswahl des Menüpunktes und Bestätigen mit der Taste "ENTER" (39) wird das Hauptmenü verlassen. Alternativ können Sie
auch die Taste "SETUP" (42) drücken.
