Access to the Network Enclosure
• In Windows Explorer, navigate to the drive where the CD is located and start the programme "NAS Client
Log In Utility V2.2 Setup.exe".
As mentioned above, for newer versions the fi le name may be slightly different.
If a message from the Windows user account control appears, confi rm by clicking on "Yes".
• The setup will now be performed. Follow all of the instructions, and complete the setup by clicking on "Finish".
• Start the software, using the button placed on your computer's desktop after the installation has fi nished.
If a fi rewall is enabled on your computer, it may block the software. If a message appears when
you start the software, you must permit network access in order for the software to function
properly.
• Normally, the NAS will now be displayed in the software. If this is not the case, click on "Refresh".
If this does not solve your problem, also check the DHCP setting on your router. In this case, the DHCP
server should be enabled in order to integrate NAS easily into your network.
• Select the device in your list and click on the button "Log in".
• Your internet browser will now open automatically and the login page will be displayed.
In the appropriate fi elds enter "admin" as user name and also "admin" for the "user password". Then click
"Enter" to confi rm.
If the login window is not displayed, check the security and Java settings in your browser. In case
of doubt, use an alternative browser, such as Opera, for confi guration.
Initial Confi guration
After logging on for the fi rst time, the Setup Wizard will start automatically. You can exit the setup at any time,
or skip individual points, by clicking on "Skip".
• In the fi rst window, select the correct time zone and confi rm with "Next".
• Next, you defi ne how the hard disk is to be confi gured. Since this is an enclosure with only one drive, you
can leave this setting as it is, and click on "Next".
In order to start formatting the hard disk, click on "Confi rm" in both windows.
• Then change the administrator password. First, enter the old password "admin" once, followed by the new
password twice. Please note that the new password must have at least 6 digits. Confi rm by clicking "Next".
• Now, create a new user, if required. To do this, enter a user name and a password, at least 6 digits, twice.
Save the settings with "Next".
• In this window, you can change the name of the NAS and defi ne whether or not the IP address will be
assigned automatically. Alternatively, you can assign the device a fi xed IP address in the range of your
network. Click "Next" to complete.
• The settings are now saved in the device and it is rebooted. This takes approx. 2 minutes.
After completion, you will be redirected to the start page. Enter the user name "admin" again and the
password you set previously.
• Now, you can adjust all other settings. Please, also consult the manufacturer's manual in English on the
CD.
Resetting to Factory Settings
To reset the device to factory settings you have two options. Either via the recessed "Reset" button located
at the back of the device, above the USB port, or via the Web interface.
In both cases, connect the device to the wall plug transformer and plug it into a mains socket. Wait for about
2 minutes, until the boot up is completed.
To perform a reset with the button, press and hold down the button for longer than 10 seconds. Then release
the button again.
To perform the reset in the Web interface, log on to NAS as usual. Then change to "System" and click on
"Reset Settings". Select the circle and then click on "Confi rm".
The device restarts; this takes about 2 minutes. As soon as the LED comes on with a steady blue light again,
the device is ready-to-use and it is reset to the factory settings ("admin" username and "admin" password).
The data on the hard disk, as well as any users you created, will not be deleted! To erase every-
thing from the hard disk, you need to reformat it using the hard disk utility programme "Disk" in
the Web interface.
Tips and Notes
• The CD contains an exhaustive English manual in PDF format. Moreover, with one click on the "Help"
button, you can open the Web interface's help function, in English, directly in the Web interface.
• The product is compatible with Mac OSX and Time Machine. Please, also consult the manufacturer's
English instruction manual.
• It may be possible that the confi guration has been changed contrary to these instructions by future
fi rmware updates. Please pay attention to the manufacturer's instruction manual.
• The device features a USB port, which can be used to increase the device's storage capacity by connect-
ing an external hard disk or USB stick.
• In addition, the integrated media server has an individual confi guration page. You can access this page via
the address "http://192.168.1.100:9000/". Of course, in this case you have to enter the address of your
NAS, instead of "192.168.1.100".
• To access the NAS enable functions in Windows, open the installed "NAS Client Log In Utility", select the
device and click on "MyStorage".
Handling
• Any maintenance or repair work may only be performed by an authorised repair shop. The
exception to this is the removal and installation of the hard disk.
• Check the product for damage before each use!
If you detect any damage, DO NOT connect or use the product! This may present a danger to
