3.2. Text (Brief)
Hamburg, 2

May 2012
Dear Graham,
Last week, my teacher gave me your address and I am glad to have found a pen friend in England.
My name is Christina and I am 15 years old. I attend the Alstertal Grammar School in Hamburg. I
have a little brother and a big sister. I started English two years ago and I like it very much,
although the grammar is hard.
I'm sorry I haven't written sooner. We get so much homework these days, and then on Tuesday
evenings I go to judo classes. On the other evenings I usually meet my friends and we listen to
music, go to the cinema or go out on our bikes. At the weekends I have to help my mother with the
shopping on Saturdays, and on Sundays we often visit family friends or drive out into the country
and go walking. Such is life here!
English, mathematics and chemistry are now my favourite subjects. We have nice teachers in these
subjects and they are also very funny. The English teacher comes from Wales. Do you think my
English is ok? Remember, I have only been learning English for two years only. I hope I haven't
made too many mistakes.
What are you doing this summer? My mum and dad say you should come and stay with us. Then
you could practise your German and we could speak English. We will be here for most of August.
What do you think?
That's all the news I have for today. Please write soon. My family send their regards.
With best wishes,
Christina
