2. INTENDED USE

- Measuring and displaying electric parameters in the range of measurement category CAT III up to 600 V against
earth potential, pursuant to EN 61010-1 and all lower categories. The meter and accessories must not be used in
the measuring category CAT IV.
- Measurement of direct and alternating voltages up to 600 V
- Measurement of direct and alternating current up to 10 A
- Frequency measurement up to 10 MHz
- Capacity measurement up to 60 mF
- Measurement of resistances up to 60 MΩ
- Measurement of temperatures from -40 up to +1000 °C
- Continuity test (<10 Ω acoustic)
- Diode test
- Contact free 230 V/AC voltage detection (NCV)
The measurement functions are selected using the dial switch. Automatic measuring range selection is active in all
measuring ranges (autorange).
The VC-275TRMS shows actual effective measured values (True RMS) in the AC voltage and AC current measuring
ranges.
Polarity is automatically indicated with the prefix (-) if the measured values are negative.
The 10 A current measuring input is secured against overload with ceramic high-performance fuses. The voltage in
the measuring circuit must not exceed 600 V.
The mA/µA measuring input is equipped with a self-resetting PTC fuse. Manual fuse change is not necessary.
A low-impedance function (low imp) enables voltage measuring with reduced internal impedance. This suppresses
phantom voltages that may appear in high-impedance measurements. Measuring with reduced impedance is only
permitted for measuring circuits of up to 250 V and for only up to 3 s.
The multimeter is operated with a conventional 9 V block battery (type 6F22 or same build). The device must only
be operated with the specified battery type. A rechargeable battery should not be used due to the lower capacity.
Automatic deactivation switches off the device after approx. 15 minutes when no button has been pushed on the
device. This prevents premature discharging of the battery. This function can be deactivated.
The multimeter must not be operated when it is open, i.e. with an open battery compartment or when the battery
compartment cover is missing.
Measuring in potentially explosive areas (Ex) or damp rooms or under unfavourable ambient conditions is not
permitted. Unfavourable ambient conditions are: Moisture or high humidity, dust and flammable gases, fumes or
solvents, thunderstorms or thunderstorm conditions like strong electrostatic fields, etc.
For safety reasons, only use measuring lines or accessories which are adjusted to the specifications of the multim-
eter when measuring.
The meter must only be operated by persons who are familiar with the required provisions for the measurement and
the possible dangers. Use of personal protection equipment is recommended.
