Remote control

Problem
The remote control
does not work nor
function properly.

BD player (BD-940)

Problem
Power does not turn
on.
Power is turned off.
Disc playback does
not start.
Video playback
stops.
The BD player makes
a snapping noise
when a disc is loaded
or played.

Cause
The remote control may be operated
outside its operation range.
The remote control sensor on this system
may be exposed to direct sunlight or
lightening (invented fluorescent lamps).
The battery may be worn out.
There are obstacles between the sensor of
this system and the remote control.
The system control cable is disconnected
from the system connector jack of the
receiver and/or the BD player.
Cause
The plug is not completely inserted.
The receiver and the BD player are
connected incorrectly.
The receiver is set incorrectly.
"Auto Power Off" is set to "Yes".
You may use a recordable disc that is not
finalized.
The disc label may not be facing up.
The disc may be defective.
The disc is dirty.
The region code on the disc does not
match that of the BD player.
If the recorded time of a disc is unusually
short, playback may not be possible.
BD-RE/R discs recorded in a format
other than BDMV cannot be played back.
Excessive force or vibration was applied
to the BD player.
The BD player is not placed on a steady
flat surface.
The BD player has not been operated for
a while.
Remedy
For information on the remote control operation
range, see
"Using the remote control"
Change the lighting or orientation of this system.
Replace the battery with new one.
Remove the obstacles.
Connect the receiver and the BD player securely with
the system control cable.
Remedy
Connect the power cable firmly.
Check the connection with the receiver.
Check the setting (INPUT/Volume/MUTE/
Headphone) of the receiver.
Set "Auto Power Off" to "No".
Finalize the recordable disc.
Place the disc in the disc tray with the label facing
up.
Try to play back another disc. If the same problem
does not occur, the disc you want to play back is
defective.
Clean the disc surface.
Use a disc with the same region code as the BD
player.
Do not apply excessive force or vibration to the BD
player.
Place the BD player on a steady flat surface.
This may happen if it has not been operated for a
while. This is not a malfunction.
