8. Using compass
A
compass reacts to the earth's magnetic field. For this rea-
son, observe the following points for use:
• Operation in buildings usually
leads to an imprecise display. The
reason for this is the existence of
reinforced concrete, insulation
glass windows, radiators and
electric cables.
• Keep a sufficient distance to pow-

er stations, industrial plant and
power lines.
• Operation in vehicles or aero-
planes leads through the metal

construction to an incorrect dis-
play on the compass.
• The same is the case in the prox-
L
imity of electrical devices (e.g.
computers, television sets, elec-
tric motors, kitchen appliances
etc.).
• Construction site machines, e.g.
compressors, drills or similar have
a negative influence on the exacti-
tude.
• Never position the multi-compass
on metal surfaces or writing desks
with metal feet.
