Description of drill sleeve
The drill sleeve is made of pure titanium and
is delivered non-sterile. It can be autoclaved,
chemiclaved, and disinfected (after removal
from packaging).
2.
Indications
There are no contraindications.
3.
Notes on use
The drill sleeve must be firmly anchored in an ap-
propriate surgical aid (e.g. vacuum-formed template).
It must not come loose while in use, otherwise the
work has to be interrupted. The drill sleeve with
collar is intended for single use only.
3.1. Fabrication of an individual drill
template
When fabricating an individual drill template, please
follow the "step-by-step" instructions available from
Straumann which describe the process. In addition,
Straumann offers a variety of aids (pins) for simpler
and more precise fabrication of an individual drill
template. Please also follow the "step-by-step" instruc-
tions that are available for these products.

3.2. Before use

The drill template must be disinfected with a standard
disinfectant before it is used on the patient. It must be
ensured that the material of the drill template does
not become distorted during this process.
3.3. In use
The drill sleeve is only for use with the following
Straumann Ø 2.2 mm pilot drills: Art. No. 044.210
and 044.211.
The drill sleeve must be firmly connected to the surgi-
cal aid so that it does not come loose when drilling.
If this cannot be guaranteed, it must be secured
against aspiration.
The drill should only be set in rotation when it has
been inserted far enough into the sleeve that the
tip of the drill sticks out the other side of the sleeve.
The drill must only be removed from the drill sleeve
when it has stopped rotating.
It is very important that the surgical area is sufficiently
cooled while the drill is inserted through the sleeve.
Furthermore, the patient's tissue must be well irrigated
and suctioned after drilling with the Ø 2.2 mm drill
in order to remove any drill residue.
