Unter der Zeile "Primäre Netzwerkanmeldung" sollte jetzt stehen "Client für Micro-
soft-Netzwerke".
Geben Sie unter "Identifikation" als Computernamen z.B. "PC-Tower" oder "Klaus"
o.ä. ein, als Arbeitsgruppe sollten Sie standardmäßig "Workgroup" eingeben.
Klicken Sie dann auf "OK", worauf die Windows 95-CD zur Installation weiterer
Systembestandteile nötig ist. Auch ein erneuter Neustart ist jetzt fällig.
Im DFÜ-Netzwerk können Sie nun die DFÜ-Verbindung ("CallbyCall1") dop-
pelklicken, geben Sie den Benutzernamen und das Kennwort ein, das der jeweilige
Provider vorsieht (bei Talknet lautet beides "talknet"). Mit einem Häkchen bei "Kenn-
wort speichern" werden beide Eingaben (Benutzername und Kennwort) gespeichert.
8. Tips & Hinweise
• Die Installation unter Windows 95 ist zugegebenermaßen nicht komfortabel. Win-
dows 95 enthält aber keine ISDN-Unterstützung! Erst mit dem "ISDN-Accelerator
Pack" von Microsoft wird die in Windows 98 oder höher enthaltene ISDN-Unter-
stützung nachgerüstet. Die weiteren unter Punkt 7 beschriebenen Konfigurationen
sind zwar teils nicht unbedingt nötig, aber sie ermöglichen erst das Abspeichern
der Zugangsdaten (Benutzername/Kennwort).
Ansonsten müssten Sie jedesmal beim Aufruf einer DFÜ-Verbindung den Benut-
zernamen und das Kennwort von Hand eingeben. Falls Sie mehrere Call By Call-
Provider nutzen, so müssen Sie sich eine entsprechend höhere Anzahl von Benut-
zernamen und Kennwörtern merken oder aufschreiben.
Bei Windows 98 bzw. ME ist diese umständliche & langwierige Installation nicht
nötig!
• Die Geschwindigkeit im Internet hängt von mehreren Faktoren ab:
- Provider
- Tag (z.B. Wochenende)
- Uhrzeit (z.B. wenn in den USA Mittag oder Abend ist)
- Internet-Site, die Sie aufrufen und dessen Provider
- und natürlich der Weg, den Ihre Daten nehmen
Seien Sie also nicht überrascht, wenn zu manchen Uhrzeiten die Datenübertra-
gung nur sehr langsam statt findet. Versuchen Sie dann, die Verbindung erneut
herzustellen (Aktualisieren) oder zu anderen Uhrzeiten. Oder Sie nutzen einen
anderen Call By Call-Provider.

• Undo the screws securing the housing of the computer case and carefully remove
the case cover.
• Remove one slot panel of a PCI slot and insert the ISDN card in the PCI slot.
Secure the card with screws and check that it is correctly positioned in the slot!
The ISDN card requires its own IRQ. If you are plugging in several
cards in your PC, an IRQ conflict can interfere with the proper opera-
tion of the ISDN card or of other plug-in cards with the same IRQ. If lat-
er an IRQ conflict arises in the equipment manager during system con-
trol, try operating the ISDN card in a different PCI slot.
Do not use the PCI slot directly adjacent to an AGP-VGA graphic card
because this usually has the same IRQ as the AGP slot.
• Refit the computer case cover and secure using the screws. Connect the ISDN
card to the ISDN socket using the ISDN cable supplied.
• Reconnect your computer and monitor to the mains power supply and switch on
all equipment.
• If your computer does not boot up correctly, switch it off immediately and check all
settings and cable connections. Before opening the casing, disconnect the PC from
the mains power by withdrawing the mains plug!
6. Software installation
If the manufacturer supplies a new version of the software, the instal-
lation steps described in the following may be different!
a) Windows ME (Millennium Edition)
After Windows is started, the message of the hardware assistant shows that it has
detected a new hardware.
Insert the supplied driver CD into the CD ROM drive of your PC.
Leave the presetting on "Search automatically for the best driver (recommended)"
and click on "Continue".
After the installation of the system components has been completed, click on "Com-
plete", a Windows reboot is then necessary.
