Ultrasound Attachments
Please note that according to statements by dentists, for hygienic reasons the ultrasound attachment is not suitable
for use by several people. The same ultrasound attachment should always be used by one person. For this reason, the
bristles of the ultrasound attachments are marked in colour in order to make the assignment to several family members
easy. The ultrasound attachments should be replaced after ca. three months, since the bristles start to become soft
from this point in time, which deteriorates the ultrasound transmission. For this purpose, remove the old ultrasound
attachment vertically upward (please do not remove sideways, you can damage the contact pins of the handpiece while
doing so). Firmly press the new ultrasound attachment vertically from above into the handpiece, with bristles facing
forward in the direction of the start button (caution: there is a snap lock; please carefully press open, do not pinch your
skin while doing so).
Ultrasound Toothpaste
The erroneous opinion is often expressed that ultrasound requires water as a transmission medium (as is frequently
known from ultrasonic baths). It is correct that the suitable transmission medium depends on the ultrasonic frequency
and ultrasonic output. Examples are generally known from other medical applications such as cerebral examinations,
ocular examinations, gastric examinations with ultrasound, etc. The suitable transmission media, ointments and gels,
are of diff erent consistency here. A special toothpaste (Emmi-dent) is used for dental micro cleaning, without which
the ultrasound cannot take eff ect (millions of micro-bubbles only form in this medium). The ultrasound cannot form
any micro-bubbles in conventional toothpastes. One reason for this is that these toothpastes contain a relatively high
percentage of "abrasive substances" (a measurement for this is the so-called RDA value, which lies at 70 – 130 with
conventional toothpastes; in comparison, the RDA value with dental micro cleaning is nil). Therefore, please note that
Emmi-dent Ultrasound Toothpaste must be used for dental micro cleaning.
Tartar Remover
The Tartar Remover functions mechanically without ultrasound. It can, but does not have to be, inserted into the
handpiece. It removes strong tartar by carefully abrading the dental surfaces with the dark tip (please do not rub too
strongly so as not to damage the dental enamel).
Battery Care and Disposal
The batteries are in the device's waterproof handpiece. After use, the handpiece can be placed back in the charging
station again, or if it is fully charged, it can be used for up to ca. 10 days without recharging. If the total cleaning time
lasts longer than 10 minutes (e.g. with several users), the batteries can be recharged in an appropriately shorter period
of time. Absolutely make sure that the batteries are never completely discharged. Once the batteries have reached a
critical discharge value, the green display is not illuminated when the device is turned on. The display is illuminated in
red and starts to blink after 5 seconds. If this is the case, the device absolutely has to be recharged, since otherwise the
batteries can be damaged.
The device contains special environmentally-friendly NiMH batteries which may not be disposed of with
household waste. In Germany, the collection containers of the GRS Batteries Foundation (common collection
system) and other collection points (e.g. all points of sale for similar batteries) are available for disposal).
GUARANTEE
There is a guarantee of 24 months – from date of purchase – for this product. Defects which arise during
this guarantee period in the form of material and/or manufacturing defects will be remedied at no charge,
either by means or repair or through replacement delivery. Insofar as legally permissible, any other claims
for compensation are excluded. The guarantee is inapplicable in the event of intervention by third parties
or disassembly by third parties without our prior consent. The guarantee is also inapplicable in the event of
arbitrary damage or incorrect handling. The guarantee period is not extended with provision of a guarantee. We
reserve the right to invoice the costs incurred for unjustifi ed complaints such as installation or operating errors.
For making a guarantee claim it is necessary to save the proof of purchase with date of purchase.
