7.3 Safety-relevant installation
instructions
Since the bus is powered by the
Homematic IP Wired Access Point
(HmIPW-DRAP), you must first of
all set up a Homematic IP Wired
Access Point (HmIPW-DRAP) to
enable power supply for the de-
vice. For further information,
please refer to the operating man-
ual of the corresponding Wired
Access Points.
Please note the insulation strip-
ping length of the conductor be-
ing connected, as indicated on the
device.
Permissible cable cross-sections
for the bus connection are:
Rigid cable: 0.12 – 0.50 mm
For reasons of electrical safety,
only the following cables may be
used for connecting to the
Homematic IP Wired bus:
• Telephone cable J-Y(ST)Y with
2 x 2 x 0.8 (= 0.5 mm²) or
4 x 2 x 0.8 (= 0.5 mm²),
shielded, TP
• Ethernet installation cable S/
FUTP, type Cat5e or higher with
2 x 2 x AWG22 (= 0.34 mm²) or
4 x 2 x AWG22 (= 0.34 mm²),
shielded, TP
The shield (continuity wire) must
be connected to "–" (=GND) at
the bus connection of the Wired
Access Point (HmIPW-DRAP). The
shield may not be connected to
the device.
The load circuit must be protected
by a circuit breaker in accordance
with EN 60898-1 (tripping charac-
teristic B or C, max. 10 A rated
current, min. 6 kA breaking capaci-
ty, energy limitation class 3). Instal-
lation regulations in accordance
with VDE 0100 and HD382 or
60364 must be observed.
No SELV/PELV power circuits may
be connected to the connecting
terminals of the load circuit.
The device may only be operated
with the housing closed. All four
latching lugs must audibly engage
when the device is fitted on the
mounting plate.

When connecting to the device
terminals of the load circuit, ob-
serve the permitted cables and
cable cross sections.
Permissible cable cross-sections
for connecting to the WAGO ter-
minals are:
Rigid cable

0.75 – 2.50
The mains terminals may be used
only for connecting the mains
voltage or for connecting loads to
the device. Connecting (looping
through) conductors via the mains
terminals of the device to other
devices is not permitted.
