6. Handling

Never switch on the monitor immediately after having taken it from a cold into a
warm room. Under unfavourable conditions, the condensate which might develop
may destroy your monitor.
Allow the monitor to adjust to room temperature before switching on. This
might take several hours.
Make sure that the monitor is sufficiently ventilated during the operating phase.
Never cover the device during this time.
Place the device on a flame-retardant support, so that air is allowed to enter the
device from all sides. The device is mainly cooled by convection.
The monitor must not be used in the immediate vicinity of a bathroom, of a shower or
swimming pool; the monitor is not suited for outdoor use either. Only use the monitor
for work in dry rooms. For your own safety, it is essential to prevent the monitor from
getting damp or wet.
Never insert objects, such as ball-point-pens, necklaces, pins and knitting needles,
staples etc. into the ventilation slots and openings of the device; this would destroy
the monitor as well as your computer; moreover, this would involve risks, such as
short-circuits, fire, electric shock, etc.
Do not use frame / line frequencies and the corresponding resolutions for which the
monitor is not suited. Example: With a resolution of 1024*768, max. 115 Hz are
admissible. A higher frame frequency would destroy the monitor!

7. Maintenance and cleaning

Check the monitor at regular intervals for technical safety, e.g. for damage to the
power cable or the housing.
If safe operation cannot be assumed any longer, the device must be put out of ope-
ration and protected against unauthorized use. Switch off the device immediately
and pull the mains plug from the socket outlet.
Safe operation cannot be reasonably assumed if
- the unit shows visual traces of damage,
- the unit no longer functions and
- after extended storage under unfavourable conditions or
