Communication
The MODBUS-2211 unit supports both EXOline and Modbus communication protocols. An automatic
switch between EXOline and Modbus is implemented so the unit will automatically detect if the
message that is received is an EXOline or Modbus message and switch to the correct protocol.
The unit will stay in the selected protocol until a message from the other protocol is received.
The two RJ12 jacks are connected in parallel so that several modules easily can be connected to
the same bus in a chain.

The address must be possible to change with the testing software.
The MODBUS type of the signals (type in the list below):
1 = Coil Status Register (MODBUS function = 1, 5 and 15)
2 = Input Status Register (MODBUS function = 2)
3 = Holding Register (MODBUS function = 3, 6 and 16)
4 = Input Register (MODBUS function = 4)
Supported MODBUS functions:
1 = Read Coils
2 = Read Discrete Input
3 = Read Holding Register
4 = Read Input Register
5 = Write Single Coil
6 = Write Single Register
15 = Write Multiple Coils
16 = Write Multiple Registers
Max 47 registers
A maximum of 47 registers can be read in one message.
Communication limits
The MODBUS master must wait for a minimum of 3.5 character times (4ms at 9600 bps)
between two messages.
DIP switch changes
To make DIP switch changes to take effect, the power supply must be switched ON and OFF, twice.
I.e. switch the power supply OFF, make the changes, switch the power supply ON, switch the power
supply OFF, then switch the power supply ON again.
The reset function of switch 8, resets the parameters back to factory setting.
