Preparations for Installation
Please consult the chapter "Safety Instructions"!
• Install the recessed light only on a stable base (e.g., in gypsum plasterboard, wall,
brick wall).
• The recessed light must not be embedded in insulating material. There is a risk of
fire! Maintain a minimum distance of 20 cm.
• The recessed light must be installed and used out of the reach of children.
• The power must be disconnected during the installation and connection of the re-
cessed light.
• Plan the layout for the recessed light, e.g., in the ceiling of the room. If you want to
install more than one recessed light (e.g., to illuminate a foyer), plan the installation
locations very carefully.
Installation and Connection
Pay attention to the information in the chapter "Preparations for Installation"!
• Depending on the installation location and the surface, a suitable opening has to be
prepared. For example, if you wish to mount the recessed light in a gypsum plaster-
board, the required opening can be cut out with a jig saw.
• The perforated aluminium tapes cast into the gypsum of the recessed light can be
bent on the mounting location, depending to the material thickness, so that the front
of the recessed light is flush with the gypsum plasterboard or the wall. If required,
the perforated aluminium tapes can be screwed tightly or fastened with a suitable
material (e.g., gypsum).
• Spackle the gap between the recessed lamp and the mounting surface using a suit-
able filling material, e.g. plaster.
• After the filling material has dried completely, the gypsum surface of the recessed
light can be painted with commercially available wall paint just as you would do with
a wall/ceiling.
• Connect the mains cable for the recessed light with the connection cable on the
light base. Use e.g., the 2-pole screw terminal enclosed.
Depending on the mounting location, the screw terminal must be protected
from short-circuits, e.g., with a suitable casing.
Close to the light bulb, the mains cable of the recessed lamp should be pro-
tected with a heat-resistant hose.
Depending on the output of the bulb, you have to make sure the mains cable
has a sufficiently large cross section.
• Screw an appropriate bulb (12 V, max. 50 W) in the lamp socket.
• Insert the bulb in the recessed light and secure it with the spring washer.
Inserting/Replacing the Bulb
Attention, risk of burns!
Before you replace a faulty bulb, switch off the recessed lamp and wait until
the faulty bulb and the lamp have cooled down sufficiently.
Do not touch the bulb with your bare hands, use a suitable cloth.
• Remove the spring washer from the recessed lamp. To this end, you can also use
e.g. small needle-nosed pliers in order to protect yourself from injuries through the
sharp edges of the spring washer.
• Remove the bulb with the light socket connected to it from the recessed lamp.
• Pull the bulb out of the lamp socket.
• Insert a new bulb (12 V, max. 50 W) in the lamp socket.
• Insert the bulb in the recessed light and secure it with the spring washer that you
removed at the beginning.
• Finally switch on the mains voltage of the recessed lamp and check that the new
bulb is functioning.
Cleaning
You can use a clean, dry, soft cloth for cleaning. Dust can be very easily removed with
a soft, clean brush and a vacuum cleaner.
Do not use aggressive cleaning agents as this may lead to discolouration or changes
in the material of the gypsum lamp's surface.
Disposal
Dispose of an unserviceable product in accordance with the relevant statu-
tory regulations.
