Maintenance, cleaning and technical information
First remove the plug from the socket! Wipe the outside of the sun lamp with a slightly
damp cloth. Do not use an abrasive cloth. Make sure that no water gets into the sun lamp.
The light tubes can be dusted with a dry cloth or a soft brush. The reflector plate should
only be dusted with a very soft brush (if necessary) from time to time. The lamps have a
very long operating life of about 300 hours. This facial tanner has been built according to all
European safety standards, which allows it to carry the CE-mark. Insulation class II, UV A
radiation type 3, mains voltage 230 Volts, 50 Hz, power 200 Watts.
General information about tanning
You can tan safely all year round underneath this sun lamp if you follow these guidelines
correctly. Our skin is tanned by invisible ultraviolet radiation from the sun. This radiation
darkens the pigment already present in our skin and stimulates the formation of more
pigment known as melanin. The production of new melanin cells and the darkening of these
make the skin stay tanned longer. There are a number of different types of ultraviolet
radiation. Ultraviolet A radiation (UVA), which colors the pigment cells brown, and
ultraviolet B radiation (UVB), which stimulates the production of melanin cells, but also
causes sunburn, are the most well-known types. Your sun lamp provides mostly UVA but
also UVB. How quickly and how deep you tan depends on your skin type. The skin type also
detain lines how long one can (safely) stay in the sun. This is true for both the real sun as
well as the sun lamp. In order to make the best use of your sun lamp, first check your skin
type using the following table. Further on in these instructions, you will find the different
skin types in the tables with the recommended tanning times. If your skin falls into the type
1 or 2 category, we recommend you do not use the facial tanner at all.
